Lise Bofinger : I am excited about this opportunity to work with these talented students as we work through the AP Environmental curriculum. My goal here is to help guide the formation and work of this learning community. My primary focus for both my undergraduate and inital graduate degree was environmental science. For years my focus here in the science department has been frehmen biology and Bio II; I am thrilled with the challenge of a new curricular area. Especially one so near and dear to my heart.
I have taught here at CHS for 27 years and look forward to many more! I live here in Concord with my husband and daughter. Given the choice to be any where (other than in the classroom with you delightful people) I would probably be in my small rustic camp in north western Maine, where I spent my summer and vacations and many weekends.

Catie .: Hi everyone! I can't wait to begin AP Environmental Science! After taking AP Bio last year, I'm really looking forward to delving deeper into the topic of biology from an ecology and environmental standpoint. Biology is something I'm strongly considering pursuing in college. I am most excited to get outside on trips with everyone to learn by doing experiments and tests. What's better than doing science outside?
I am the oldest sibling of four, and in my free time I love to play field hockey, draw, and paint!

Alex: I have always loved being outdoors and like to try to do my best at "being green" which was why I was interested in taking this course. One of the things that I want to take away from this class is how I can make a better impact on our environment. It's also a course that I am interested in pursuing in college.
I am originally from Kent Island, Maryland but have lived in Concord since I was little. Other than going to school, I work part-time at Bread and Chocolate, play lacrosse in the spring, and do various arts and crafts. Some fun facts about myself; my favorite colors are purple and turquoise, mango is my favorite fruit, and my favorite season is fall!

Cam: I took this course because I have grown up with a love of the outdoors, I spent most of my time outside as a child. My childhod was filled with frequent visits to my grandmothers house in Vermont where I would help her do yardwork and then we would sit and have a bonfire at night. Even now I spend most of my time outside. I also took this course because I took AP bio last year and I want to continue learning about biology. I plan to study biology in college and hopefully graduate with a degree and find a job in the field of biology.
I am the oldest sibling in my family, I have a sister who is currently a junior at concord high. My free time is spent playing lacrosse and football. Of these two sports lacrosse is my favorite and I hope to play college. My favorite season is spring because that's when i get to play lacrosse everyday. My favorite color is and I also like green and navy blue but I wouldn't call those my favorite. I am excited for this course and I hope we all have a good year. GO TIDE!

Kelcie : I decided to take this course because i want to be able to learn more about the world and environment in which we live in! I have spent a lot of my life outdoors doing a variety of different things such as camping, hiking, fishing and much more. I really love the outdoors and getting to experience this world from nothing but nature. After taking AP Bio last year i became interested in this course. I was born in Albany, NY but have lived in New Hampshire since i was 6 years old. I am the oldest child of 3 girls and i love it. I love playing soccer in my freetime as well as hanging out with my friends!

Sammi : Hi, my name is Sammi and I think that this class should be really interesting. I like to play soccer hockey and lacrosse for sports and I am really excited for this year's soccer season. My favorite color is purple and my favorite movie is "The Guardian". I work at Chuckster's Minigolf Center during the summer, I have an older brother named Matt and a mom and dad. My favorite fruits are apples and strawberries. I think I'll probably drop this class...

Freddie: Hi everyone. I am very excited to take this class because I would like to know more about how to preserve our environment. We all know what our society is doing to the environment, and so I think it is very important that we know more about how to save what is left so that future generations can enjoy nature as we all have. The first thing you should know is that I am part of the Symmes family. I have had four cousins and a brother graduate from Concord High, and there are four of us left. This will be my 5th season rowing for Concord Crew. I am on the Alpine ski team, and am going to join the nordic ski team this winter. During the winter I also teach skiing at Pats Peak part time. I was born here in Concord, have one older brother and my favorite juices are soursop, mango and orange.

Kyle : HEY. Glad to finally post my bio on the wiki! I'm super excited for Environmental Science because I had a great time in AP Bio last year and can't wait to take yet another science class. There is soooo much to learn about the environment (I'm pretty sure) so I think I'm going to have a great time. I've never done an independent study so I'm excited to see how that will go. I work at Bagel Works on Main Street in downtown Concord. I love to hike, go biking, kayak, swim, anything outdoorsy really. I've lived in Concord all of my life and most of the time I think its actually a pretty great location. I have a younger sister named Molly and a mom and dad. If I could be an animal I'd be an otter.

Nick: Hi there. It wasn't until recently that I realized the extent to which i like the outdoors. When I was younger I spent an unhealthy amount of my time in doors, but now that I've gotten older I've realized that I really enjoy just being out in nature, taking lone walks in forests, climbing mountains and the like. I'm unsure of what I'd like to study in college, but I think I've narrowed it down to psychology, english or environmental studies.Whatever I end up doing with my life, I'd like to leave some sort of positive impact on the world, and evironmental science is an interesting field of study inwhich i could see myself doing so. I'm going on my fourth year rowing with the school's crew team, and plan to continue rowing in college. I really like writing, and am a big fan of boloco.

Mohan: Hi everyone!

The things I do for crew...And yes i'm wearing shorts...
I'm really excited to have a great year ahead of us! I first found out about this class from students that took it last year and it seemed really interesting. I am big into biology and will hopefully be a Doctor one day. I want to take Environmental Sciences because I want to learn about whats happening to the enviorment that we are living in. there has been so much talk about Global Climate Change and i feel like this class will help me understand what really is happening and how I can be apart of the change. I am one of those kids that like to know why things happen they way they do, so taking this class will get me to understand a little more about the "whys" in life. I am a member of the Concord Crew Club as a coxswain and I enjoy it a lot, I hope to one day cox in college. My favorite color is green (neon specifically) and my favorite food is what ever makes my stomach happy.
I'm looking forward to having a great senior year with everyone!

Max : Hello AP Environmental Science classmates. I am looking forward to learning a lot this year. Biology has always been one of my favorite subjects, and hopefully this year I will learn if I want to make it a part of my college major and/or career. This class is a great way for a dedicated few students to learn independently in a subject they have an interest in. Thank you for this opportunity.

Logan:

Hola mi amigos! como estas? I am very excited to be a part of this class. After my experience at the Advanced Studies Program at St.Pauls, my love for the envrionment has increased tremendously. I love to be outdoors; anything from skiing, hiking, biking, running, swimming and sculling. I am starting my 5th year on Concord's crew team and am in the process of continuing my love for crew in college. I love to hang out with friends and family. I have three younger siblings, Meaghan, Aidan and Quinn, a mom and dad and two dogs, bruin and rosie, and a crazy cat name Midnight. I look forward to enjoying my senior year with everyone in this class! Audios!

Keagan : I'm excited to be able to be a part of this class. Nature and the environment are things that have mattered to me for as long as I can remember. Getting the chance to learn more of the science behind this interest of mine is an opportunity I couldn't pass down. I really hope to learn more about the processes that keep the environment running. The chance to do labs outside is something that sounds like it will be a lot of fun. This summer I spent four weeks volunteering in Costa Rica at a wildlife rescue center. The center was located in a relatively isolated area, and allowed me to experience a version of nature that was close to untouched by humanity. It was a unique and amazing experience, and really gave me a deeper appreciation for the complexities of nature. Travelling is a true passion of mine. Whenever an opportunity for travel such as my experience in Costa Rica arises, I make sure to take advantage of it. I hope to find some way to incorporate travel in my studies while in university. Other then that, I row and work at Pats Peak.
